The Early Bloomers are continuing to offer learning and fun to future gardeners. This
time of year, with the cooler weather, we just move inside. We have created teaching modules so that any master gardener can easily jump in and enjoy the afternoon as part of a teaching team. The modules are designed to be flexible and can be geared to children preschool through 5 th grade. New teaching modules on Nature, Plant Pigment (sense of Sight), Leaves and Trees, and The Sniff Test (sense of Smell) have all been a hit with the kids. We are scheduled once a month at Red Shield After School (was Boys and Girls Club) and Front Porch Housing After School into Spring. We are also working on dates for elementary schools and Homeschoolers. October 24th, Master Gardeners participated in the Caine Halter YMCA 'Senior Wellness Day.' Necie S., Sue B., and Dana T. presented 'Gardening Up' ideas with senior members that passed by. Demonstrations of how to use dried plants to create art, planting and carrying for inside plants, and seed harvesting were included along with answering many garden related questions.
October 17th, Master Gardeners participated in the Greenville Water ' Imagine a Day Without Water' Event at Unity Park. Over 20 non-profits and vendors gave out SWAG while discussing water conservation with the adults and children in the park. Necie S. and Dana T. passed out environmental stickers, treats, and invited kids to draw their theme ideas that were posted for all to see.

There are lots of other demos and educational programs for your garden club or group. We also have library presentations. Check out our library calendar of events on GGMGA.org. And look for the "Speakers Bureau" link at the top to schedule a presentation for your organization. |
